Dr. Akpaka is a dual board-certified family nurse practitioner and psychiatric nurse practitioner. Dr. Akpaka currently practices as a psychiatric mental health nurse practitioner treating the root cause of mental health illness using medications and other healing modalities.

As a board-certified registered nurse, she has had many years of patients care experience working at WakeMed Hospital in both Orthopedics and Medical Intermediate Care Unit. As a family nurse practitioner, she has worked in multiple rural community health centers, providing exceptional care to patients of all ages for many years. She is committed to providing evidence-based practice to the people that she takes care of. As a psychiatric mental nurse practitioner, she continues to strive to improve patient outcomes and overall quality of life by assessing, diagnosing, and treating health conditions through holistic approach with medication management, education, and psychotherapy to achieve optimal promote recovery.

Dr. Akpaka earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) from the North Carolina Central University. She went back to school to pursue her master’s degree from the Medical University of South Carolina and graduated with her Doctor of Nursing Practice and Family Nurse Practitioner degree (DNP- FNP-BC.) She later went back to Liberty University for her post-master’s certificate program and graduated with her Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner degree, (PMHNP-BC
